OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - In Bennington, neighbors say Pine Creek is known for its calm streets.

Tuesday evening, parents say that calm was shattered.

According to Douglas County deputies, just before 5 p.m., a man in a white Mercedes van pulled up to kids — claiming he knew their parents and trying to get them inside his vehicle.

Parents, and some of the children, quickly reported what they saw and heard —but say they’re now more cautious about stepping outside.

“My mom called me pretty scared, she wasn’t even going to let me go outside for a scooter ride today. She reminded me I need to be more careful and be aware of bad people,” said Kamilla Tibke, a resident in the neighborhood.
