CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - Marshalltown Mayor Joel Greer says state health officials and the CDC are investigating cooling towers on top of buildings as a possible source for the deadly Legionnaires Disease outbreak.
“The CDC helped our local county folks on the state HHS people figure out which cooling towers were the most likely to be a problem,” said Greer.
During a meeting with the Marshall county Board of Supervisors, Iowa Health and Human Services says testing has already started on multiple units in the area.
Greer said, “There were 10 of them as of this morning, the ninth one was done, and this afternoon, the 10th one is being sampled.”
