ZAPATA COUNTY, Tex. (KGNS) - The Zapata County Sheriff’s Office is reexamining several cold cases that reportedly have not been investigated for years.

For several months, KGNS has been investigating domestic violence cases in Zapata County. This includes speaking with some victims, such as an anonymous individual we featured in December of 2024, who claimed that their allegations were not taken seriously by law enforcement .

The victim recounted her experience of reporting domestic violence, saying, “I made the difficult decision to come forward and accuse my abuser after escaping my situation months earlier.” Her case is one of many that have finally been addressed after being previously overlooked.
