EDMONDS, Wash. — Body camera footage obtained by KING 5 shows a man impersonating a police officer and interacting with Bremerton officers on multiple occasions before being detained.

The video first captures Michael Scaletta Teates dressed in a police-style uniform approaching a Bremerton officer around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. “I thought you were one of the detectives for us,” the officer says.

Scaletta is seen wearing an Edmonds Police badge, a SWAT patch, and a tactical vest equipped with a radio, flashlight, body camera, handcuff pouch, and extra magazines. He stands beside a blacked-out vehicle outfitted with police-style lights.

Bremerton Police said Teates is a security guard and has been working for the Salvation Army.
