CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - A memorial was set up in Charlotte’s South End to remember the life of a 23-year-old Ukrainian woman who was allegedly stabbed to death on a Charlotte light rail last month.

A memorial was set up at the East/West station platform to remember the life of 23-year-old Iryna Zarutska , who was allegedly stabbed to death while on a light rail on Friday, Aug. 22.

The Department of Justice on Tuesday, Sept. 9 federally charged 34-year-old Decarlos Brown, who is accused of killing Zarutska, for committing an act causing death on a mass transportation system.

Brown had already been charged locally with first-degree murder.
