Conservative icon Charlie Kirk, known for rallying young Republican voters, was shot and killed Wednesday at a Utah college event.

The news of Kirk's death came as a shock to many students at colleges, including Missouri State University, where he held a speaking event back in October 2023.

"I was in my English writing class, and a girl said Charlie Kirk just got shot," said Hailey Edwards, a freshman at MSU.

Edwards believes that no one should be attacked for expressing their political beliefs.

"I think that he's not necessarily morally right, but I don't think anybody should be the judge of when it's your time to go, or to murder you just for your voice," said Edwards.

She adds that people should come together and "learn to see each other's differences".
