INWOOD, Manhattan (WABC) -- A 20-inch water main break in Upper Manhattan left several blocks underwater on Thursday morning.
Many residents woke up to find their streets completely flooded in the Inwood section.
The water main break happened just after 11:30 p.m. Wednesday on Dyckman Street and Nagle Avenue.
Water could be seen rushing down the street under parked cars and affecting the roads in the surrounding areas.
The city's Department of Environmental Protection responded to the scene. Crews worked into the early morning hours to shut the water off and make repairs.
The crews were working to begin excavation to determine the source of the leak.
Emergency workers were also checking basements for damage.
