LANSING, Mich. (WLNS)-- ‘The Flame of Hope, ’ also known as the Special Olympics Torch, will work its way through Mid-Michigan tonight.
The Michigan Law Enforcement continues its "Flame of Hope Week" all in an effort to raise money and awareness for Special Olympics athletes with a 750-mile relay that will tour Michigan.
Event officials say the Michigan Law Enforcement Torch Run is an endurance relay that will carry the Flame of Hope, a torch that represents courage and inspiration that Special Olympic Athletes will use to navigate daily life in an effort to break down long-standing social barriers.
The goal of the event is to raise money and support sports training and athletic competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
