On today’s 24th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks that took 2,977 innocent lives, Hawaii remembers.

From sunrise to sunset, U.S. and Hawaii state flags are flying at half-staff at the state Capitol, state agencies and Hawaii National Guard to mark Patriot Day.

The annual 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony will be held at 12:15 p.m. at Tamarind Park at Bishop Square, attended by the governor and mayor, among others. At 6 p.m., the Mayor’s Annual Remembrance Ceremony will be held outside Honolulu Hale.

Also tonight, Honolulu Hale and the Neal S. Blaisdell Arena will be illuminated in blue light, in solidarity with other cities in remembrance, resilience and unity.
