There will be a number of events held in Boston, Massachusetts, and throughout the state on Thursday to mark 24 years since the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, as the impact of that unimaginable tragedy continues to be felt decades later.
There were 206 people with local ties who died in the 9/11 attacks , including firefighters from Massachusetts.

The annual reading of the names on the steps of the State House to remember those who died will take place at 8:30 a.m. and will be followed by a ceremonial lowering of the flag.
Other events include the annual national day of service and remembrance blood drive taking place at Fenway Park, beginning at 7 a.m.
