A couple who elaborately staged an armed robbery at a retail store walked free from court with suspended prison sentences.

Police said Patricia Marlborough, 28, and Kristian Bramah, 29, 'carefully planned the robbery with the intent of making as much money as possible'. But, added detectives, an investigation uncovered 'their web of lies' and saw the truth finally emerge.

Both Marlborough, from Tameside , and Bramah, from Salford, were in a relationship at the time, police in Cheshire said.

Police were called to reports of a knife-point robbery at the Holland and Barratt store on High Street, Congleton, Cheshire, on August 16, 2021.
