(CNN) - Spotify is finally launching high-quality audio, called lossless audio, for premium subscribers.
Spotify is rolling out lossless audio, or high definition, CD-quality streaming sound, in about 50 countries around the world over the next two months. Customers in the United States are already getting access.
Lossless will be free for premium subscribers. Spotify recommends using lossless while connected to Wi-Fi with wired headphones or non-Bluetooth speakers. The feature needs to be manually enabled on each device you use.
Spotify says nearly all of its 100 million song-catalogue will be available in lossless format, a feature that has been a long time coming. Plans for lossless were first announced in 2021 but were later put on hold.
