Toledoans planning to attend the Detroit Lions’ home opener Sunday or otherwise traveling to the Motor City this weekend will need to find a way home other than I-75.

The Fisher Freeway’s southbound lanes will be closed between Springwells Street and Schaefer Road from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for “multiple projects,” the Michigan Department of Transportation said.

As usual, the schedule is weather-dependent. But if it holds, northbound I-75 will be closed the following weekend in the same zone, although that closing’s northerly limit will be at Clark Avenue.

Posted detours will use I-275, I-94, and I-96 in both directions. Fort Street is another option for local access, but may be congested by alternate-route traffic.
