FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — The Atlanta Falcons signed kicker Parker Romo to the practice squad, the team announced Tuesday.
NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero first reported the signing earlier in the day.
To make room for Romo, the Falcons released edge rusher Ronnie Perkins.
The Romo addition shouldn't come as a surprise after Falcons head coach Raheem Morris made it clear Monday the team planned to bring in competition as soon as Tuesday for current kicker Younghoe Koo after the veteran missed a game-tying, 44-yard field goal in Atlanta's Week 1 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Morris said the Falcons wanted to look at both veteran and young kickers this week. Romo is a veteran with limited playing experience. He was first signed by the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent in 202
