FOXBOROUGH – There’s a reason why the Patriots signed Milton Williams to a four-year, $104 million contract. The team made this athletic defensive tackle the highest-paid player in franchise history because of his dominant performance in Philadelphia.

A third-round pick, Williams has already proven people wrong. To a degree, he’s already proven himself.

Except that’s not how the 26-year-old approaches it.

Last weekend, Williams played a career-high 49 defensive snaps in the Patriots ’ Week 1 loss to Las Vegas. In one game, he showed he was an every-down player in the NFL. Despite playing well, Williams heads into this week with a chip on his shoulder.
