DALLAS — A man died after being hit by a car in southern Dallas early Thursday morning, according to police.

The Dallas Police Department said officers responded to a major accident call at approximately 2:50 a.m. Thursday in the 7000 block of South Lancaster Road. When officers got to the scene, they found a man had been struck by a vehicle.

Police said the driver remained at the scene.

Dallas Fire-Rescue also responded and transported the victim to a local hospital, where he died, officials said.

Police did not release the victim's identity.

No further information was immediately available.
