WEST TAWAKONI, Texas — The mayor of a small town on the shores of Lake Tawakoni in Hunt County resigned in dramatic fashion this week.

Kevin Featherson, who up until Tuesday served as the Mayor of Lake Tawakoni, stood up during a discussion about city-owned equipment and left the room while announcing his resignation.

Later, he confirmed his resignation in a Facebook post.

"I want to be the first one to let the citizens know I resign as the mayor effective today," Featherson wrote. "Unfortunately, I can not continue in a position that I’m blatantly disrespected and not supported by your current council or employees."
