A social media post made by Stephen King about Charlie Kirk's shooting has sparked a backlash.
Bestselling author King triggered outrage after he called the death of Kirk, 31, who was fatally shot at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, on Wednesday during a question-and-answer session on campus "another example of American gun violence."
The Context
The 31-year-old was a conservative influencer and President Donald Trump ally. He was also the founder and executive director of Turning Point USA and frequently visited university campuses to deliver talks.
The motivation of the shooter is not known but Kirk's death has reignited concerns of deepening political polarization and violence in the U.S. It has also caused some to make points about gun control and whether stricter poli
