BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) -- Two men were arrested after West Baton Rouge deputies found stolen firearms during two separate traffic stops on Tuesday.

The first stop involved a Nissan Altima that was pulled over for traffic violations. WBRSO said a passenger, Michael Hatley, 19, of Port Allen, was found with a firearm reported stolen. Hatley was arrested and booked into the West Baton Rouge Parish Detention Center on a charge of illegal possession of a stolen firearm.

Later that night, deputies stopped a Kia Optima, also for traffic violations. WBRSO said the driver, Jalan Washington, 21, of Port Allen, was found with a stolen firearm as well. He was arrested and booked on the same charge, but has since bonded out. Hatley remains in custody.
