CLOVIS, Calif. (KFSN) -- Cities and towns across America are marking the 24th year since the 9-11 terror attacks.
Nearly 3,000 people were killed in New York City, Virginia and Pennsylvania when four planes were hijacked and crashed.
A special ceremony took place Thursday morning at the California 9/11 memorial in Clovis to honor the victims, their families and the first responders who gave of themselves to help those in need.
This year's guest speaker was Erik Ronningen. He was the last person to escape the South Tower of the World Trade Center.
