CLEVELAND, Ohio — Matt Festa was just another name when the Guardians acquired him from Texas for cash on April 30. Now he’s “Everyday Festa.”

The nickname comes from former Twins reliever Eddie Guardado, who seemed to pitch every day for Minnesota during his career. Festa, like Guardado, doesn’t pitch every day for the Guardians, it just seems like he does.

Festa made his first appearance with the Guardians on May 2 and he’s been pitching steadily for them ever since.

He’s already tied his career high with 53 appearances. Those 53 appearances are the third-most on the Guardians behind Cade Smith’s 67 and Hunter Gaddis’ 63.
