SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- A man is in critical condition after being struck by a car while crossing the street mid-block in Pacific Beach on Wednesday evening, authorities said.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident occurred in the 2500 block of Grand Avenue. Police say a 39-year-old man was crossing the road northbound, outside of a marked crosswalk, when he was hit by a westbound blue Toyota Prius. The driver, a 48-year-old woman, was traveling in the left lane when the collision occurred.
The man sustained severe injuries, including a spinal fracture, brain bleed, dislocated knee, and a collapsed lung. He was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Police say alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
