SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Low water levels at one of the City of San Diego's reservoirs have halted some water activities.
According to an announcement by the city on Thursday, the boat launch ramp at El Capitan Reservoir in Lakeside has been closed due to low water levels.
However, available water activities include shore fishing, canoeing, car toppers, kayaking and float tubes, the city said.
El Capitan Reservoir was built in 1935 following the completion of the El Capitan Dam, and later connected to the city's water system through the El Capitan Pipeline.
When full, it has over 1,500 surface acres and a maximum depth of 197 feet with a storage capacity of more than 112,000 acre feet, per the city.
The reservoir is typically closed to the public on the first Friday of each month, We
