Haldimand County’s integrity commissioner says Mayor Shelley Ann Bentley broke the rules by leaking confidential correspondence intended to discredit a candidate in February’s provincial election campaign.
Bentley maintains she has no idea how photos of sensitive emails she had printed in February ended up posted to social media during the provincial election.
In a report released Monday, integrity commissioner David Boghosian found Bentley was the source of the leak and that the “obvious intention” of the scheme was to “discredit” Progressive Conservative candidate Amy Martin and benefit Bentley’s political ally, incumbent Independent MPP Bobbi Ann Brady.
