BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) - Communities across North Dakota are marking the 24th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks with ceremonies that honor victims and first responders.
At the International Peace Garden near Dunseith, attendees gather for a cross-border memorial ceremony. A military honor guard leads the procession, followed by performances of national anthems from the United States and Canada. This year's performance will be done by the Bottineau School Choir under the direction of Jaque Marum. Organizers lay a memorial wreath at the site’s steel girders salvaged from the World Trade Center. The ceremony includes a moment of silence and prayer.
