BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) - Thursday morning, Stadium Drive Elementary held a tree-planting ceremony near its playground.

Three-hundred-and-fifty kids were joined by first responders who talked to them about the brave police, firefighters and emergency responders on that fateful day.

Fire Chief Mark Pitzer said they have been coming to the school for over a decade now to make sure the younger generation knows about the sacrifices made.

"It's to keep that constant reminder and reflection of what's important in life, and life is valuable, you know, serving our community is very valuable," Pitzer said. "It's also a good reminder not only for the country, but our first responders to reflect on the work they do is extremely important, and it is kind of a good hard reset for us as well."
