HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - Hazard High School hosted its annual 9/11 assembly Thursday morning, inviting first responders from throughout the community to attend.
The event was hosted at the Forum in front of the high school. It gave students and staff a chance to honor police officers, firefighters, EMS, and others who serve Eastern Kentucky.
Coffee and donuts were served to first responders as part of the gathering. Students played and sang songs and shared a timeline of events as they unfolded on Sept. 11, 2001.
Social studies teacher Patrick Hall said it is important to teach these students what happened that day, as none of them were alive yet at the time.
