Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to dedicate to the nation development projects amounting to Rs 8,500 crore on Saturday, according to officials.

The PM will lay the foundation stones of these projects in Manipur on that day, they said.

The news follows the Union home affairs ministry signing a tripartite Suspension of Operations (SoO) pact with the Manipur government, and Kuki groups KNO and UPF that aims to restore peace in the state, and the reopening of National Highway 2 -- crucial for connecting Imphal with Nagaland and other regions in the Northeast.

Earlier this year, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced an envisaged expenditure of Rs 35,103.90 crore for the state, a 7.5 per cent increase over the previous year.
