BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) - The youth deer season begins September 19 and runs for 10 days across North Dakota.
Licensed hunters ages 11, 12, or 13 may shoot an antlerless deer. Those ages 14 or 15 may shoot a buck. All youth hunters must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. The adult accompanying the minor may not carry a firearm.
After opening day, hunting hours are a half-hour before sunrise to a half-hour after sunset. Orange clothing is required for youth hunters and mentors.
If youth hunters are unsuccessful during the initial season, they may also participate in the regular deer season, which runs from November 7 through November 23.
