A cold front brought a brief respite from sticky summer weather in southeast Louisiana earlier this week, but expect to see highs back up in the 90s soon.

While the region will experience above-average highs through early next week until at least Wednesday, dry weather will lower humidity, National Weather Service meteorologist Phil Grigsby said.

"Right now our normal high is generally in the upper 80s, about 88 to 89 degrees across the area," Grigsby said. "We expect to see the highs running right around 5 degrees above that level."

The lower humidity will keep heat index values, a measure for what temperatures feel like, in check through the weekend and early next week, Grigsby said.
