Fred Warner believes his 49ers can overcome the onslaught of injuries they’re dealing with entering Week 2 against the New Orleans Saints at Caesars Superdome.
The four-time All-Pro linebacker shared where his faith in his teammates comes from when talking to reporters at 49ers practice in Santa Clara on Wednesday.
“Yeah, I guess, unfortunately,” Warner said when asked if San Francisco has more of a “next-man-up” mentality than other less-banged-up teams. “Of course, you want your star players -- or anybody, for that matter -- to be healthy and available. But this league has shown over and over again how physically taxing it is; it [has a] 100-percent injury rate across the board.
“So, it is ‘next-man-up’ mentality. I have full confidence in the guys who have to be in there, regardle
