BATAVIA - Genesee County legislators voted Wednesday to oppose the siting of large-scale industrial solar projects on strategic prime farmland. It also specifically opposes the proposed EDP Alabama solar project.

However, before the vote on this resolution at the Legislature meeting, a farmer from Basom and his daughter spoke in support of allowing the EDP project to continue. EDP Renewables North America is proposing a $117 million project in the towns of Alabama, Oakfield and Batavia.
