Three Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) underwent lockdowns in the morning hours of September 11 due to “terroristic threats.” The schools included Virginia State University in Ettrick, Virginia; Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia and Alabama State University in Montgomery, Alabama. Along with the cancellations of classes and non-essential activities, students and staff were instructed to shelter in place or evacuate the campus.
