CLEVELAND — Gregory Moore — the 51-year-old man charged with murder in the 2013 death of Aliza Sherman in Cleveland — appeared for a pretrial hearing Thursday afternoon in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court.

Moore faces the following charges in connection with the case:

One count of aggravated murder

One count of conspiracy

Six counts of murder

Two counts of kidnapping

His trial is slated to begin next March.

At issue during Thursday's hearing was a motion made by the defense last month asking Judge Kira Krivosh for an independent DNA test on a watch and wristband found among Sherman's personal items at the time of her death. The prosecution wrote a brief in opposition to the motion.
