Election season is hitting its stride in Calgary and communities outside the city.

Voters will choose municipal and rural representatives in under 40 days. Election day is Oct. 20, while those keen to cast their ballot early can visit advance polls starting Oct. 6.

In Calgary, ballots will offer choices for mayor, one of 14 ward councillors and trustees for public and separate school boards.

The field will be set when candidate nominations close at noon on Sept. 22, although many campaigns are already well underway.
