Oregon couple Gary and Mary Selleck remember exactly where they were on Sept. 11, 2001.
The pair, who are both retired Lucas County sheriff’s deputies, were working at their respective posts.
Mr. Selleck was watching an inmate at St. Vincent Medical Center, and Mrs. Selleck was working as a school resource officer at the Alternate Learning Center in West Toledo.
Mr. Selleck found out by watching television, and Mrs. Selleck was booking a teenager she arrested at the school when she heard about the attacks.
“It was unbelievable,” Mr. Selleck said.
“I said, ‘We got to get back to the school,” Mrs.Selleck said. “We’ve got to lock down the school. America is under attack.”
