INDIANAPOLIS — The Center for Disease Control and Prevention is warning people of a deadly bug that can be found in Indiana .
The insect's scientific name is Triatominae, but it is better known by its nickname: the "kissing bug."
The bug can transmit Chagas disease.
Chagas disease is mainly found in rural areas of Mexico, Central America and South America. However, it has been reported in 32 states. Out of those states, eight states have reported human cases. Those states are: Arizona, Arkansas, California, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Tennessee and Texas.
According to the CDC , about 8 million people globally, including about 280,000 people in the U.S., have Chagas disease. The CDC says oftentimes people don't even know they have it.
