An award-winning journalist and one of the most recognizable faces in Los Angeles local news will be joining the team at CNN.

Elex Michaelson, who just departed FOX 11 Los Angeles after several years behind the anchor's desk, will be joining the network news organization as a weeknight anchor later this year.

Michaelson will remain in Los Angeles and will anchor CNN programming from its local news studio.

“I am so excited to join CNN and learn firsthand from some of the most talented journalists on the planet,” Michaelson said in a CNN press release. “I’m especially grateful that CNN is expanding its investment in my hometown as the West Coast houses so many global leaders in politics, entertainment, technology, sports and more."
