WASHINGTON (KUMV) - Congress is getting closer to passing the annual defense bill.
On Wednesday, House Republicans passed the National Defense Authorization Act with only 17 Democrats joining. Rep. Julie Fedorchak, R-N.D., said some of the provisions include a 3.8% pay increase for service members and fully funded nuclear modernization efforts.
As the Senate looks to pass its version, Sen. Steve Daines, R-Mont., said he’s hoping for a 4.3% pay increase.
“Very important here to make sure we keep our troops paid at a time where the world is as dangerous as it’s ever been,” said Daines.
Daines said another provision in the Senate’s NDAA includes funding for water infrastructure projects at Ft. Belknap.
Both chambers will most likely have to compromise and hash out a final bill later this
