BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - Retirement looks different for everyone. For some, it means spending the winters somewhere warm. For others, it means moving wherever the grandkids are.

For retired KFYR-TV farm director Al Gustin, it means using his gifts to give back to the community.

Gustin has been busy building something pretty amazing for everyone who visits Papa’s Pumpkin Patch.

Al Gustin is happiest in his woodshop.

“It’s a chance for me to be in my happy place,” he said.

He always has at least one project in the works. But it isn’t very often he keeps what he builds; Gustin likes to build things for others.

The chest of drawers he’s working on now will go to a grandson.

His other most recent project has found a new home at Papa’s Pumpkin Patch in a new “Al Gustin’s Barnyard.”
