INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis man was sentenced for the murder of a man at a gas station on the city's east side in 2022 .

A jury found 43-year-old Darius Butts guilty of murder in the shooting death of 32-year-old Desmond Banks. On Sept. 11, Butts was sentenced to 63 years.

Around 11 p.m. June 9, 2022, officers responded to a report of a person shot in the 9900 block of East 38th Street , near North Mitthoefer Road.

Officers found a man, later identified as Banks, who had been shot multiple times next to a Chevy Camaro. Medics pronounced Banks dead.

Detectives got security footage that showed the incident. It started when an ice cream truck, driven by Butts, tried to go around Banks' Camaro in the gas station's parking lot. While trying to go around the Camaro, Butts hit it. Security
