Tyler Allsopp, Bay of Quinte MPP, says he is in favour of automated speed cameras to slow down drivers in community safety zones.

He pointed out Thursday following a $1.27 million funding announcement for Elevate Plus at Belleville City Hall on Wednesday, that he voted for their installation in Belleville when he formerly served on city council.

But asked in a scrum with reporters whether he would vote for any potential move by Premier Doug Ford to pull the plug on municipal speed cameras across the province, Allsopp said he would need to see all of the information before casting any possible vote on the matter in Queen’s Park.

Allsopp was responding to comments made by Ford in a media scrum earlier this week.
