Omaha man who was 17 when he murdered another teen sentenced to prison

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - An Omaha man was sentenced Thursday for first-degree murder in the shooting death of a 17-year-old in 2023.

Tyrice Coleman, now 19, was only 38 days shy of his 18th birthday when prosecutors say he shot and killed Messiah Holley.

Officers found Holley suffering from gunshot wounds Nov. 8, 2023, near 18th and Spencer Streets. He was taken to Nebraska Medicine and later died.

Prosecutors said Holley was shot in the head, back, neck, arms and hands. Surveillance video from nearby homes showed a group of young men surrounding and assaulting Holley before firing shots. The ShotSpotter system detected five rounds.
