Political activist Charlie Kirk assassinated at Utah university event

Conservative political activist Charlie Kirk is dead after he was shot in the neck Wednesday at a speaking event at Utah Valley University.

Utah officials say the fatal “targeted attack” occurred during a student-sponsored event with Turning Point USA, which Kirk co-founded. Kirk, 31, was married and had two children.

Authorities are still looking for the shooter after two initial persons of interest were released from custody Wednesday. It was determined that neither had ties to the shooting.
