DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) - Three people were rescued and later airlifted after a house fire in Davenport Thursday morning.

Crews responded to the 2400 block of North Zenith Avenue for a report of a home fire around 4:25 a.m., according to a media release.

When crews arrived, officials said heavy fire and smoke were showing from the front of the home.

Crews were told several people were able to escape the home before the fire department arrived but that three were still inside.

Three people were found in the home and taken to an area hospital. Officials said they were later airlifted to Iowa City and their conditions are unknown as of Thursday afternoon.

Fire crews contained the fire in 20 minutes but officials said due to the heavy fire, smoke and water damage the home was uninhabitable
