DURHAM, N.C. (WTVD) -- A lockdown has been lifted at C.C. Spaulding Elementary in Durham for nearby police activity in the area.
At 2:32 p.m., Durham Police were trying to arrest a person wanted on a federal warrant in the 200 block of Moline Street.
The suspect ran on foot toward C.C. Spaulding Elementary School, but was quickly taken into custody.
The school was briefly placed lockdown, but that has since been lifted, according to DPD.
Officers did safety sweep to make sure that no weapon or drugs were on school grounds, but none were found.
Most students had already left for the day when the chase took place.
At 2:46 p.m., police got a call from an out-of-state caller reporting that they got a message that there was an active assailant at the school.
