Before Auburn football head coach Hugh Freeze took questions from reporters following Thursday’s practice, he took a moment to speak about a few non-football topics.

Those topics included the murder of Auburn professor emerita Julie Gard Schnuelle and the recent assassination of Charlie Kirk.

Kirk was a conservative influencer and activist who was killed during an event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday.

“He was a friend of mine. I got to know him well at Liberty,” Freeze said. “Irregardless of your view on everything, for me, he modeled what he believed in better than anyone I’ve ever met.

“I shared with the kids and even texted my daughters this morning, ‘Do I model for you that faith is the most important thing to me, family and then this room?’ And he did that,” Freeze co
