CARBON COUNTY, Pa. — First responders are on the scene of a deadly helicopter crash in Carbon County.

Crews from several departments responded to the crash in the area of Maury Road in Penn Forest Township near Jim Thorpe around 3 p.m. Thursday.

The county coroner's office says two people were killed in the crash; there is no word yet on their identities.

According to PPL Electric Utilities, a third-party contractor was using the helicopter to work on utility lines in the area.

PPL is working with emergency crews on scene, investigating what led to the crash.
