DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Dayton Christian School students gathered to honor the nearly 3,000 people who died on Sept. 11, 2001, and learn about the event.
The Head of School, Matt Baker, said it was a priority for the school to designate time to help students reflect on the meaning of freedom, sacrifice and patriotism.
“I use this moment in history as a teaching opportunity, much like how we honor Easter each year to remember the sacrifice of Jesus Christ,” said Baker. “Even though our students didn’t witness the events of 9/11, just as they didn’t witness the crucifixion, they believe in its truth and significance. And because they believe, we honor.”
