EVERGREEN, Colo. (KKTV) -One of the students critically injured during a shooting at Evergreen High School on Wednesday has been identified as 18-year-old Matthew Silverstone.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office shared the following statement Thursday afternoon on behalf of Silverstone’s family: “The family appreciates the community’s concern and support, but as we remain focused on our loved one’s recovery, we respectfully request privacy as we continue to heal and navigate the road ahead.”

According to JCSO, both victims were still in the hospital in critical condition as of Thursday morning.

The sheriff’s office also identified the suspect on Thursday, 16-year-old Desmond Holly. Authorities said Holly died from self-inflicted injuries on Wednesday night.
